While gas sensors are typically associated with industrial uses with dangerous applications, there are many situations in which gas and other Environment Sensors can be used for hobbyist and personal applications too. The awesome advancements of modern technology and electronic sensors allow Makers to see more than our eyes ever could. In fact, everyone could benefit from being able to measure the particles in the air around them to identify just how healthy their working or living environments are, which is why we stock these little Gravity MQ-2 Gas Sensor Modules.

Using a MQ2 Probe developed by DFRobot, the Gravity MQ-2 Gas Sensor offers a wide range of detection to keep you safe from dangerous gases. The module detects LPG, isobutane, methane, propane, alcohol, hydrogen and smoke from burning Electronic Components, all of which can be very dangerous if the gases build up and saturate the air. You can adjust the sensitivity with a potentiometer. The density of gas is proportional to the output. Using the analog Gravity interface, the MQ-2 Gas Sensor is best matched with the Arduino IO expansion shield to easily integrate with your Arduino project. But if you don’t use Arduino, the sensor module supports 3.3V to 5V power, which makes it compatible to other microcontrollers like Raspberry Pi. These features, in conjunction with the long lifespan of materials used to build the Gas Sensor, make it an excellent investment for anyone who might be concerned with the saturation levels of dangerous gases within a home, workplace or even factory environment.

Typical Applications for Gravity MQ-2 Gas Sensor Module:

With air quality being quite an important factor in regards to personal health, these MQ-2 Methane Gas Sensors are great for applications in almost any indoor environment from workshops to living rooms. They help to prevent unnecessary and unexpected health and lung-related problems, and helps you ensure that the saturation of a particular particle never reaches a dangerous level. This can prevent both health problems as well as even more dangerous situations like fires or explosions, and ensure that you can continue working on your fun, important or dangerous projects without having to worry about nearly-untraceable threats like Methane or Butane.
