Makers of all kinds find awesome uses for the ability to measure liquids, whether you are an electronics expert monitoring oil in a machine or a baker judging the levels of their syrup dispensing unit. While the simplest method involves sticking your finger or a ruler into the liquid, sometimes we can’t touch the liquid we’re measuring or don’t want to. Standard water level probes that bob inside water simply won’t work well with closed pipes. That’s why the Capacitive Pipeline Liquid Level Sensor is useful to monitor the liquid level within your pipeline and send output signals through a 3-pin DuPont connector.

This awesome DFRobot Capacitive Pipeline Liquid Level Sensor detects liquid which reaches its position in your pipeline. This detector works best for small water pipe level detection in beverage machines or infusion pipe level detection applications. You will need non-metallic pipes with diameters of 6mm in order to easily slip them onto both ends of the Pipeline Liquid Level Sensor. The sensor detects the presence of liquid using capacitance measurements. A certain static capacitance is attributed to the sensor. When the liquid rises to the inductor, the parasitic capacitance is added to the static capacitance, causing the total to increase. The rate of change is converted into an amount which is considered reaching the sensing point at a certain level. These results are rapidly sent through a signal output which you can connect to smart electronics like an Arduino microcontroller. With the Capacitive Pipeline Liquid Level Detector by your side, you can create wondrous IoT applications to make your Maker life even easier.
